It is with joy and full of enthusiasm that the 5th grade students of Notre-Dame College took a trip back in time during the last week of class.
Back to the year one thousand in Aveyron!
Visit of the castle of Calmont-d’Olt in Espalion to discover daily life in the Middle Ages. A treasure hunt designed and led by teachers in period costumes, in the village of Conques-en-Rouergue, aroused the curiosity of these little travelers in search of gold and precious stones. After a whole lot of research work in class, like real pilgrims, they were finally able to admire with their own eyes the marvelous reliquaries and in particular that of Sainte-Foy as well as the stained glass windows by Pierre Soulages in the sumptuous Romanesque abbey. They return to Castres with stars in their eyes, memories in their heads, arms full of everything they have had the opportunity to make and experience in multiple workshops. A temporary parenthesis in our frenetic life in a preserved place.
On their return, they were welcomed at the Soulages museum in order to get a foothold in our contemporary world and to conclude this trip on an artistic note. See you next year !
