“Wood everywhere!”
Every year, since 2006, the Fédération Patrimoine Environnement organizes a competition
intended for primary and middle school students. Its objective is to introduce children to the heritage of their regions, while introducing them to new information and communication technologies as well as to the profession of journalist. “It was a success, by the motivation transmitted to the students who gradually moved from note taking to the elaboration of sentences then to a writing carried out individually”, rejoices Roland Agrech, regional delegate of Occitanie.
This journal therefore highlights wood in the Castres heritage. Budding journalists produced this newspaper with the help of sources by going to meet woodworking professionals or by visiting important places of the city’s heritage. “It is in a pleasant working atmosphere that we have enlarged […] our culture and knowledge of our local heritage “can be read in the newspaper’s editorial.
The reward for quality work
The prizes were awarded in the presence of the principal of the establishment, teachers, speakers, assistants, parents of students and partners. Each of the 27 students in 5th grade received a diploma for their work and motivation. They subsequently presented an exhibition of their woodworking. “I think I am objective in saying that the newspaper is excellent and of high quality” congratulates Xavier Sauvage, principal of the college.
The icing on the cake, the winners were offered a subscription to the Histoire Junior magazine published by Faton editions.
