To warm up, at least the spirit, Colori d’Italia and Les Cinglés du Cinéma are offering, like last year, 10 days in Italy with 6 remarkable Italian films.
From Friday February 3 to Sunday February 12, in the dark rooms of the CGR Lido, moviegoers and all lovers of Italian culture will be able to discover or re-watch 6 Italian films thanks to the Castres associations Colori d’Itlaia and Les Cinglés du Cinéma, which are associated like last year.
The journey will begin on Friday February 3 at 8 p.m. with Ariaferma produced in 2022 by Leonardo di Costanzo. The film takes place in a Sardinian prison, but, far from violence and despair, Ariaferma is a humanist tale and a magnificent story of friendship.
Also produced in 2022, Anima Bella by Dario Albertini is a sensitive and neorealist chronicle that follows Gioia, an 18-year-old shepherdess, whom we will see grow up despite the hardships and gain momentum. Three directors from the golden age of Italian cinema are honored.
Francesco Rosi with two films: Cadavres Exquis from 1975 which will bring back fond memories to the oldest since the film was presented at the Castres film club by Lino Ventura himself. A brilliant film that analyzes the systems of corruption between power and the mafia. A combat film that retains its impact today. Salvatore Giuliano, produced in 1961 in Sicily, evokes the journey of an outlaw as much admired as he is hated. The film was a shock when it was released.
Sunday February 5 at 2 p.m., Le Casanova by Fellini will amaze spectators. With a grandiose, dreamlike and theatrical staging, his Casanova, a fragile puppet masterfully interpreted by Donald Sutherland, evolves in a hallucinated 18th century. This unforgettable film has, according to Jean de Baroncelli, “the breadth and gravity of a requiem”. The 10 days in Italy will end with Michelangelo Antonioni on Sunday 12 at 10:45 am The Red Desert, Golden Lion at Venice in 1964, is a singular work that can be described as extreme. Antonioni, served by an extraordinary Monica Vitti, gives us a bitter vision of our society. For further information, a bulletin presenting the entire event is available at the Lido.
