A month after N3F’s French vice-champion title, CMVB Hornets forward Laura Wierre won the beach volleyball tournament at the European Games of Company Sports in the Netherlands. A great experience shared with her sister Carole. Her trophy cabinet is bursting full. Laura Wierre (37) will be able to open a museum to pin down all of her medals! The Spiky Hornets have picked up three more this season. A month after the title of vice-champion of France of the National 3 women’s with the volleyball Castres-Massaguel, the administrative assistant has just brought back a second golden charm from the Netherlands won at the beach volleyball tournament of the European Games Company Sports, after having won the World Company Sports Games last October in Athens. A coronation in Arnhem (Eastern Netherlands) that Laura Wierre shared as a couple with her younger sister Carole (35). “It’s even stronger to win with your sister, recognizes the Calaisian expatriate in the Tarn. Geographically we live on opposite sides, so we see little of each other. This type of competition is an opportunity to see and share a sport that we both love.”
“Not to be missed”
“The level was even higher than at the World Games in Athens,” insists Laura Wierre, who had already won this European title in 2017 … she didn’t have the means to catch up in case of missteps. “The pointed Hornets and her sister benefited from a small boost from a German team that retired before chaining two victories against Airbus Helicopters and the Austrians of Porsche. A “grand slam” to the power of four in two days which thus ensured the two sisters the conquest of the most beautiful of medals.
In Bordeaux in 2023? With a special jersey in homage to Holland, Laura and Carole Wierre thus participated in the beautiful collection of medals for the French teams during these European Games of Company Sports, even if Germany finished first in the medal table. “The emotions multiply by a thousand to win with the sister”, assures Laura. The two sisters already hope to be able to renew the experience to defend the title in 2023 at home in Bordeaux. “Even if I am not selected, I will support friends.” Meanwhile, Laura plans to continue the beach experience this summer on the Mediterranean beaches with her Hornets accomplice Emeli Schäffer. A way to extend the pleasure and gain experience to return to fight with her sister, a beach volleyball specialist, who multiplies tournaments every summer.
Also dreaming of flying away in 2023 for the next World Games in Leon, Mexico, Laura Wierre wants to enjoy an almost perfect season before attacking again with the CMVB in National 2: “2021-2022 will have been a hell of a season for me. and ends in the most beautiful way “.
