Mexico CityAmid cheers, applause and ovations, para athletes José Arnulfo Castorena and Juan Pablo Cervantes arrived in the country this Friday night. With an effusive welcome at the capital’s airport, they crowned their recent feats at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, where both won gold medals in their respective disciplines.
Castorena shone in para swimming by taking first place in the 50-meter breaststroke category SB2, earning her fourth Paralympic title; while Cervantes, in para athletics, climbed to the top of the podium in the 100-meter T54. Thanks to these two medals, the tricolor delegation won three golds in the Parisian competition.
With a big smile, Castorena said he was “happy for this new medal and for all the work done, we will try to move forward with a view to Los Angeles 2028, I know it is increasingly difficult, but we have already seen that it is not impossible.”
