United Group, the leading provider of telecommunications services and media in Southeast Europe, announced that Nikolay Andreev has been appointed CEO of Bulgarian telecom operator Vivacom as of December 1st.
Nikolay Andreev – the current CEO of Nova Broadcasting Group, Bulgaria’s largest multi-platform media company, part of United Media, the United Group’s media division – will take over from Atanas Dobrev, who announced his resignation in August.
United Group announced that Dirk Gerkens, Director of Programming, Production and Advertising Sales at United Media, has been appointed CEO of Nova Broadcasting Group, Gerkens, whose professional experience includes positions as CEO of RTL Klub and Chief Executive Officer CEO of TV2 in Hungary, will combine the new responsibilities with his leadership role in United Media.

And Dirk is a highly valued European a TV manager with over 25 years of experience in this field, ”said United Group CEO Victoria Boklag.

I am sure that the development of both Vivacom and Nova Broadcasting Group will continue to expand more and more,” she added.
Nikolay Andreev joined Nova Broadcasting Group in 2009 as Chief Financial Officer, and in 2019 took over the management of the company. Prior to that, he was CFO and Investor Relations Director at Devin AD, and held various management positions for Bulgaria and the countries of Central and Southern Europe at the international corporation Unilever.
In 2014 he won the award “Best CFO” at the annual ceremony of the Forum of CFOs of EY and Forbes for his professional achievements and his contribution to the development of the profession.
Dirk Gerkens joined United Group last year and is part of the Board of Directors of United Media.
He is directly involved in the management of Nova Broadcasting Group after the company was acquired by United Group almost a year ago.
