At the suggestion of Cornelia Glassl, née Weiß, who was born in Vilseck, an extraordinary classical music festival came about in cooperation with the culture and tourism representative of the city of Vilseck, Adolfine Nitschke. The pianist Cornelia Glassl had invited some of her music colleagues.

The starting shot was given by three concerts for school children. The Schwyzer-German piano duo, consisting of Cornelia Glassl and Olivia Geiser, supported by the fairy tale reader Christoph Pickelmann, cast a spell on boys and girls.

Things really got down to business in the evening with piano, cabaret and improvisations by Walter Dolak. The Allgäu all-rounder set off a firework of entertainment under the motto “Keys, Theses, Temperaments” and led through his program as a piano player, moderator, imitator and improviser with irony and humor. Singing, playing and eloquent, Dolak conjured up surprising cross-connections, quasi a cross-vaccination in a crossover, between Bach, Beethoven, Abba, Beatles and various personalities from politics and society out of the hat. Without any effort, he fulfilled the listener’s topic requests and, refreshing and lively improvising, switched from one genre of music to the other.

At the gala concert, the Trio Tempera offered the finest classical music. In front of a full house, Anna Godelmann (violin), Christoph Pickelmann (cello) and Cornelia Glassl (piano) showed how beautiful chamber music is. The young Upper Palatinate trio had already made music together in various constellations during their school days and got together again after studying in Munich.

The three artists succeeded in interpreting Beethoven’s Piano Trio in C minor, Opus 1, No. 3, and Smetana’s Piano Trio in G minor, Opus 15. After the long Corona pause, you could literally feel the joy the artist transferred it to the audience and gave goose bumps. After the encore with Fritz Kreisler’s “Farewell” there was a standing ovation and the city of Vilseck’s art mugs from Mayor Hans-Martin Schertl.

At the end of the classic castle weekend there was a special treat. The Schwyzer-German piano duo offered a cross-section of four-handed piano literature. Cornelia Glassl and Olivia Geiser from Winterthur / Switzerland harmonized perfectly on the piano and complemented each other in expression and harmony. They put the longstanding friendship and enthusiasm for music between the two of them into practice with works by Carols Guastavino, Samuel Barber, Edvard Grieg and Manuel de Falla. The artists ended the festival expressively with a fiery encore from the Hungarian Dances by Johannes Brahms.

Cornelia Glassl thanked the visitors and especially the city of Vilseck for their active support on behalf of all those involved. She announced that she would return to Vilseck for a concert weekend with her musician colleagues in October next year.
