Castilla La Mancha will be a pioneer in the strategic reserve of masks and medical supplies for 120 days. It is guaranteed through a bill that this Friday began its journey in the Courts. The measure is part of the PSOE and Citizens’ pact. The PP already announces that it will present amendments to improve it.
The strategic reserve affects material, such as gel or masks, equipment, such as respirators, and diagnostic techniques. Jesús Fernández, Minister of Health, thanked the two groups that have promoted the rule for the effort made against the clock. During his speech in plenary session, he took a tour of the actions that, since the pandemic began, the Government has carried out to be able to stock up on material at a time of great stock tension at the international level. In the legislative text, it said, the experience of these months and the demands of the actors involved to improve it have been transferred.
With its approval, a legal tool will be launched to have a stable strategic reserve, the obligation of health and social health centers to stock up on material for 120 days and the creation of a corporation of strategic reserves of health products whose objective is to maintain and manage it. The centers will always have to keep material in the warehouse for at least 30 days.
David Muñoz, deputy for CS, highlights that thanks to this law Castilla La Mancha will no longer suffer the stress of the beginning of the pandemic. He recalled that it will be a pioneer in Spain and his group is proud that it is in the pact signed in June. In addition to what has already been explained, it will include incentives for companies that manufacture and distribute material in the region, and advance payment is foreseen, something essential to find material in foreign markets.
