The joy of being together, the laughter, the infectious human warmth, that was all on Saturday, at the Conserverie, in Castelsarrasin, with the memorable show given by the Toulouse duettists Alex Lekouid and Julie Gallian. Soberly titled “The Show!”, this moment stopped in time and space for two hours revealed itself as a true performance, in the great tradition of cabaret. We found, in fact, the interpenetration of artistic genres in a popular and friendly approach. And in this register, Alex Lekouid is simply phenomenal. The expression “wet your shirt” has taken on its full meaning here, from tap dancing to stand-up, including singing, always with this invitation launched to the public to join, with humor and tenderness, the adventure . Alex evokes his childhood in Toulouse, this red brick sublimated by Claude Nougaro, but also the Caribbean, the jazzy accents and the great Americans (Ray Charles, Jerry Lewis) and, of course, the link that constitutes the work of the immense Henri Salvador. The impeccable Julie Gallian, slightly more discreet but crucial in the show, brings a roundness to the whole with her incredible soprano voice tinged with southern humor. The scenes follow one another with the waltz of the costumes in perfect timing, to the great delight of the audience who would have liked this evening to never end. It was a beautiful moment, as always at the Cannery.
