The Antoine-Marfan health center, which opened its doors at the beginning of July, was inaugurated; the opportunity to look back on the obstacle course led for ten years by health professionals in the territory to anticipate medical desertization. Antoine-Marfan is one of the five sites with Andréossy, Labastide-d’Anjou and Villasavary of the multi-professional multi-site health center in the Chaurien basin.
“It was ten years ago, at the time of the distribution of the days on call that we realized the catastrophe to come”, recalls Dr. Pinel referring to the 50% of the doctors of the canton who, in a few years were going to cease their general practitioner activity. “Of the fifteen doctors that we were in Lauragais, ten doctors left the place between 2008 and 2019”. Faced with this observation, it was decided to “strengthen ties in an attempt to halt the fall in medical demography in the future, to better organize ourselves to improve the healthcare offer but also to protect ourselves, ”continues the doctor. Some doctors even go so far as to validate the training of internship supervisor to ensure succession.
Real estate project: 5 years of work
The Antoine Marfan health center is the result of “5 years of efforts, reflections, meetings, negotiations, even tensions between the various partners to make this private real estate project worth more than 2 million euros a reality. , it’s long. Some even thought that it would never see the light of day, but it was counting without our perseverance, ”recalls Guilleume Pinel. Finally, work began in the midst of the Covid crisis. “12 months later, a 1500m² building was created, 35 meters high, 14 meters high, with a 45-space car park and an ideal geographical location close to the nerve center of the city: the station ”.
Many health professionals
The building accommodates general practitioners, specialist physicians, a dental surgeon, a physiotherapy center, two osteopaths, a dietitian, a hypnotherapist, an ambulance driver, a meeting and training room, a medical analysis laboratory and soon a chiropodist and a psychologist. A great satisfaction for Dr Pinel who does not hide his pride in presenting this site in which he has invested a lot. Especially since the latter has already made it possible to welcome a new doctor who after his internet has put his bags here.
MSP of the Chaurien Basin: a team effort
The multi-professional health center of the Chaurien basin, labeled after 2 years of work in 2018 by the regional health agency and the CPAM, now has around one hundred health professionals. “This medico-administrative entity has enabled us for 3 years of working as a team and removing the barriers between our complementary businesses. Our general assemblies are sold out and the decisions taken are collegial ”, evokes G. Pinel, while welcoming the coordinator of the MSP, Nathalie Bidegorry for her“ titanic work to support the public health missions and make the link with the various actors ; ARS, CPAM, partner hospitals ”.
City hospital partnership
A partnership has been established with the hospital center “which has proved its worth during the pandemic with the implementation of effective control and prevention strategies. Ditto with the vaccination center which sees the intervention of liberal and hospital doctors and nurses.
