Following the designation of Paris as the host city of the Games in 2024, an Olympic and Paralympic week is organized each year by the Ministry of National Education and Youth, in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and the French sports movement.
This week is a key moment to awaken students to the benefits of sport and to understand civic and sporting values.
More specifically, this week allows: to raise awareness of the values of Olympism, to discover the Olympic and Paralympic disciplines in collaboration with the sports movement and to advocate voluntary engagement
Les Fontanilles college obtained the “Generation 2 024” label and wished for its 1st participation to have 200 5th grade students from the establishment practice the disciplines offered during the Paralympic Games in order to change the view of the youngest on disability. .
Five disabled sports activities are offered: blind football, wheelchair handball, goalball, boccia, archery and discussion workshops on the theme of disability, exhibitions and quizzes on the values of Olympism. And meeting with Enzo Giorgi, member of the French para-fencing team. This action will take place on Tuesday 2 February (8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) coordinated by Sabine Nadal, PE teacher.
A great adventure
Thanks to the precious partners who made it possible to organize this multi-activity day.
Sarah-Anaïs Grootenberg and Théo Marty, currently in 3rd year, were appointed from the 5th ambassadors for the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2,024 with 30 other pupils from the Montpellier academy, according to their school results, their involvement in sport school and federal and their interest in the Olympic and Paralympic Games. They will benefit from the Pierre-de-Coubertin-Alice Milliat class until terminal 2023-2024. The role of these ambassadors is a reinvestment within their establishment.
Our two young ambassadors have already benefited from July 1 to 4, 2019, from a stay in Font-Romeu, a high place of preparation for Olympic athletes. They will be invited to the 2024 Olympic Games. A great adventure awaits them.
