Castellón airport now has regular flights again

The Castellón airport in the first four months of 2021 it had a total of 2,317 passengers. But none of them came from a regular flight, being interrupted in October, with the end of summer and the rebound in coronavirus cases across Europe. Eight months later the facilities once again host a route, as the connections between London and Castellón with the company are resumed Ryanair.

The route landed on the Vilanova d’Alcolea runway after 5.30 p.m., and now it is expects this to be the first of many operations planned for the summer season. The other line that will be resumed shortly will be that of Bilbao, in its second season, and whose first trip will be on June 10.

The summer of 2021 will be marked by the premiere of a new national route, which from the 28th it will connect with Seville, and will be operated by Air Nostrum. A new destination that was recently announced by the Minister of Transport, Arcadi Spain, at the Madrid tourism fair, Fitur. The minister himself also went to the airport yesterday to witness this first flight.

Doubts

These three are not the only routes planned for this summer. Also those of the Wizzair company, which has connections to Viena, Katowice, Londres-Luton, Bucarest y Budapest. Tickets can now be purchased, but as with Ryanair, some adjustment of dates is not ruled out depending on the evolution of the pandemic. The main doubt comes from the United Kingdom, waiting to know if the current restrictions will be lifted: from London to Spain it is possible to travel without problems, but for the moment a negative test is still necessary to return. Something that can slow down the rate of reservations.

The pandemic truncated airport plans for 2020, that he hoped to break a record for passengers and regular lines. Everything declined in March, with the state of alarm. In summer the connections were resumed, but some of them were interrupted after a few weeks, due to the low occupation of the planes. Finally, Ryanair and Wizzair also interrupted their connections with London.

Meanwhile, those responsible for Aerocas have carried out a facilities optimization plan, focusing the airport on industrial uses, to promote logistics activity, the repair and disassembly of aircraft and the teaching of flight schools. In addition, next school year there will be a professional training cycle for aircraft maintenance.
