Mourning and emotion for the disappearance of the Dr. Sergio Sordo, 80 years old, a great name in Italian politics and medicine. Surgeon at the Monza hospital, he had been councilor and candidate for mayor of Lesmo.
He was born in Trento in 1940 and at an early age he moved to Tesino Castle with his father the engineer Damiano Sordo, mother Maria and her brothers. He had contributed with a donation made together with his brother Piero (father of the well-known Valsuganotto entrepreneur Gianentrico Sordo to whom he was very attached) to restore the church of San Rocco in Castello Tesino. He had always been very attached to the town in the heart of the Tesino.
She leaves her son Stefano who lives in England and is an engineer at McLarel and before that Red Bul and Federica. A child who unfortunately for the health emergency and its restrictions will not be able to return for the last farewell. The desire of the two sons is however to bring him back to the cemetery of Castello Tesino as soon as possible.
Sergio Sordo then moved to Milan to study where he continued his career in the field of medicine where he was primary at the hospital of San Gerardo di Monza in the general surgery department.
“A man full of humanity – explains his nephew Gianenrico Sordo – who gave his life for medicine and who, among other things, operated on me as a young man. I remember that he was a doctor always available to everyone from an early age, I remember that the last time he came to see me at the Pergine showroom he told me: I have seen and operated on many cancer patients, but you must thank God, because knowing your sickness seeing you like this together with the hand of a great surgeon there was the hand of God. My uncle was a very believer “
Sergio Sordo died yesterday, Saturday 31 October. He was incredibly recovering from a respiratory attack that had led him to a coma, then covid 19 arrived to deliver the final coup de grace.

The unconditional esteem of his community led him, once he moved to Lesmo in Brianza, to appear on the political scene under the flag of Christian Democracy and worked as councilor for public works from 1985 to 1990.
He was also part of the municipal administration during the subsequent term of the then mayor Giovanni Redaelli, until 1992, the year of the sudden fall of the Executive.
Sordo then reappeared in the elections also in 1993, this time as a candidate for mayor of the project “Popular Center”, but the ballot boxes did not come to him.
In 1994 he also attempted the great leap in national politics, running for the Senate in the “Pact for Italy” list, with no luck. As in 1997, when he reappeared, as a candidate for councilor, in the electoral round of the Municipality of Lesmo, from which he was once again defeated. In 2002, at the end of his second term in the ranks of the minority, he decided to leave political activity, while always remaining a valid point of reference for the moderates of the country.
