The plenary session of the Castelló City Council, meeting today in extraordinary session, has approved a file for modifying credits that is incorporated into the 2023 municipal budget for the amount of 2.8 million euros and that will be allocated to a series of investments that will affect all municipal areas.
The proposal has gone ahead with the votes in favor of the government (PP and VOX) and the abstention of opposition groups, PSPV and Commitment.
Before the vote amendments from opposition groups have been rejectedPSPV and Compromís, the first for the food bank, the Cáritas shelter and the second, on a music festival agreement.
In this sense, It is worth remembering that the municipal government has increased by 10,000 euros the contribution it will allocate to the Castellón Food Bankso that the association will go from the 36,000 euros budgeted to having 46.000 euros, which will be paid in full and not in installments as happened before. Regarding the agreement of Caritasthe municipal government also increases its contribution in 26.000 euros.
“We are going to help social entities by expanding the amounts allocated to the Food Bank, as well as the rest of the agreements with social entities that the previous government“In 10 months of management, they were not able to sign, which has created a situation of suffocation,” highlighted the mayor, Begoña Carrasco, in her speech.
Among the most notable actions included in this credit modification is, on the one hand, the reserve of 1,100,000 euroswhich “had not been foreseen by the previous municipal government of the PSOE, Compromís and Podemos, which correspond to three invoices from 2023 pending with the company Reciplasa“.
“This is the increase, which the previous government did not contemplate in the budget, on the Tax corresponding to the deposit in urban landfills. On the other hand, 800,000 euros are added that were not budgeted for items related to the Social Security“.
This credit modification highlights the 300.000 euros intended for the commercial bonds that will be managed through Confecomerç and that “the money will most certainly be available for the month of November as the merchants asked us for,” highlighted the Councilor for the Treasury, Juan Carlos Redondo.
This injection of liquidity “will allow us to recover, after 8 years, the agreement with the Hogar Virgen de Lidón asylum house, with an allocation of 40,000 euros so that they can continue developing the important social work of caring for the elderly and dependent people.”
