Cassiel Emmanuel Rousseau (born 4 February 2001 in Brisbane, Australia) is an Australian diver who specializes in the 10 m platform diving.
Rousseau started diving in 2017 and won the Australian Elite Junior Championship one year later.[1] In 2021, Rousseau took part in the Summer Olympics for the first time, where he reached the final of the 10-meter platform diving event, where he ultimately finished eighth.
At the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, Rousseau won medals in an international competition for the first time. He won gold in the 10-meter platform diving event[2]in the 10 m synchronized diving in the men’s competition with Domonic Bedggood and in the mixed competition with Emily Boyd bronze[3][4]In 2023, Rousseau was named as Diver of the Year after winning the gold medal in the 10m platform diving at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka.[5] At the subsequent World Swimming Championships in Doha, Rousseau won the combined competition in individual and synchronized diving from the 3-meter springboard and the 10-meter platform together with Maddison Keeney, Nikita Hains and Li Shixin.[6]
At the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, Rousseau was again able to qualify for the final in the 10-meter platform diving event, where he achieved fourth place. This time he also took part in the 10-meter synchronized diving event together with Domonic Bedggood, where the two achieved sixth place.
Rousseau is the grandson of French cyclist Michel Rousseau, who won the gold medal in the track cycling sprint at the 1956 Summer Olympics. Rousseau is studying psychology at Griffith University.[7]
