Casper Ruud – Cameron Norrie. Ruud’s first tournament win. ATP Finals

Casper Ruud lost two sets to Novak Djokovic in his first ATP Finals match. His second rival was Cameron Norrie, who was just starting his Masters competition. All because Stefanos Tsitsipas withdrew from the tournament and Norrie jumped in as a substitute.

In the first set, they both won their passes initially. The situation changed in the fourth game. Back then, Norrie had a break point and used it right away. On the next opportunity he broke his opponent again and came out at 5: 1. In the seventh game, Ruud was able to return to the game, but missed the break point and ended up losing the game 6-1.

In the second set the start was very similar. This time, however, Ruud was very careful about his passes and didn’t let himself be surprised. Up to 4: 3, everyone won their passes. Then Ruud used his break point, then kept his pass and won the set 6-3, equalizing the game.

There were no breaks in the decisive game for the first four games – up to 2: 2. Then Ruud used his third break point, and after a while he kept his pass and it was 4: 2. The servers won the next games, and so it was up to 5: 4 for Ruuda. In the tenth game, the Norwegian passed and didn’t let go of the victory. Thus, the game ended, which lasted less than two hours. In the standings, Ruud is now equal to the number of wins with Andrei Rublev, who will face him in Matchday three.
