Casio has revived the legendary watch model. But now you can’t wear them on your hand

Respect to such marketers.

Japanese company Casio released a new version of the iconic A158W watch. This is an unusual update: the body of the device has been increased several times in size and the strap has been removed.

They treated their history with horror.

The A158W model was as popular in its time as the Nokia 3310 on the phone market – it was used by tens of millions. There was also a large number of fakes on the market. It was an advanced watch for its time with a different dial, calendar, stopwatch, alarm and backlight.

Based on a wristwatch, the DQD-851J-8JF alarm clock looks very similar. There is no stopwatch, and the device does not whistle at the start of each hour, like the original. But a thermometer and a humidity sensor have been added to the device. The warm amber backlight and the alarm clock with snooze function have been carried over from the original version.

The table clock runs on two AA batteries, which last at least a year. If you use the device in Japan, it will automatically change the time using a radio signal.

The price of Casio DQD-851J-8JF was 4,378 yen, or about 2.9 thousand rubles. The original A158W (the model is still in production) costs about the same – the watch can be bought on the market for 2.7 thousand rubles.
