Who put money in the police mailbox in Springe? The police are looking for the owner. (topic image)

The police are looking for an unknown person who threw cash into the mailbox of the police station in Springe (Hannover region). Since the purpose of the payment is not yet clear to the officials, the owner is asked to report to the police in person, it is said. The officials deliberately do not provide any information about the amount or when the money ended up in the mailbox. This way, only the right person would know about it and the officials could return the money. If no owner comes forward or the money cannot be assigned, the police will forward the money to the lost property office of the city of Springe. According to their own statements, the police are not allowed to keep it.
