Cash for Rares: Glass saved from the container – it’s a Masonic piece

“I found that on a glass container,” says Steffen Döring from Beetzendorf. “I only discovered the fine engravings at home,” explains the 43-year-old about the glass he used for “Cash for Rares“wants to sell. In fact, the find is a rarity. Moderator Horst Lichter immediately recognizes why: Because there is a decisive engraving on the glass.

“You brought a Masonic jar, a so-called cannon,” says the expert. Wine was drunk from it and the glass was then violently knocked onto the table. Therefore, it is worked very stable on the ground. “It has survived a few bouts well, it has few scratches.” The facet-cut engravings, including the all-seeing eye – the symbol of the Freemasons, are exceptional. The glass was probably made in Germany in the mid-19th century. This is indicated by the swords shown, which are a symbol for the German lodge.

“Cash for Rares” seller bad negotiator

“I thought so 100 euros,” says seller Döring about his desired price. There Masonic-Pieces have a collector’s market, expert Werner goes higher. She estimates the glass at 120 to 180 euros. A proud sum for a piece that was supposed to end up in the trash. “I would give that away for less,” says Döring. Hopefully he won’t tell the traders that.

“Freemason”, Walter “Waldi” Lehnertz recognizes immediately. “I’ll start with 80 euros.” David Suppes is impressed by the quality of the glass. “There is no such thing today.” It offers 120 euros. Döring reveals to the dealers that he saved the piece from the glass container. Perhaps that is why the bids are no longer rising. The piece goes to Suppes for 120 euros.

“Short and painless,” he says Seller the negotiations. He wants to use the money to buy chickens for his farm. “There should be five of them.”
