SuaraMalang.id – Case dengue fever dengue (DHF) in Malang city increased in recent times. So far, 45 people have been treated for dengue fever.

Of that number, one person was declared dead. This data was revealed by the Head of the Malang City Health Office, Dr. Husnul Muarif. He said because of the soaring number of cases, residents were asked to be vigilant.

According to him, the addition of dengue cases is due to weather conditions that often change. Not to mention, heavy rains hit which resulted in a pool of water in the corner of the house becoming a location for mosquito larvae to nest.

“Actually, at the beginning of this year the number was not too much different from last year. There was a slight increase. This could be a reminder that dengue is still a threat,” he said as quoted from timesindonesia.co.id, Suara.com media network, Sunday (23/1/2022).

With the number of DHF cases now soaring, the Malang City Health Office is now aggressively returning to the DHF prevention and treatment program in each region.

The program, namely through Jumantik (Flat Monitor) and also the mosquito nest eradication program (PSN).

“Yes, we are intensifying and coordinating in every region to suppress this case (DHF),” he said.

For the implementation of fogging, Husnul continued, this method was not considered optimal to eradicate the root cause of DHF. This is because it will only kill adult mosquito species, while eradication must start from the root.

“We are monitoring dengue larvae from one house. Then the 10 houses right and left are counted for larvae inspection. If the result is more than 5 percent, it means that cleaning must be done first, eradicating the mosquito nests,” he emphasized.
