Cases of coronavirus infection have increased in Georgia

“The cases of infection with COVID-19 are increasing in Georgia”. SIA reports that Tengiz Tsertsvadze, the director of the Hospital for Infectious Diseases, said this.

According to him, over the past week, on average, up to 300 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified per day.

“This means that 7-8% of all those tested for COVID in the country (about 4,000 tests per day) are positive. Accordingly, the number of those hospitalized has increased. However, deaths remain at a minimum level: one case per month,” said T. Tsertsvadze.

It should be noted that the EG.5 variant of the omicron strain of the coronavirus is likely to be spreading in Georgia, but this has not been officially (laboratory) confirmed.
