Cases of Children Affected by Corona Increase by 12.5%, IDAI Urges to Enforce Prokes

JAKARTA – General Chairperson of the Indonesian Pediatrician Association (IDAI) Aman Bhakti Pulungan said the proportion of positive cases of the Corona virus (Covid-19) in children reached 12.5 percent.

“The proportion of Covid-19 cases in children aged 0 to 18 is 12.5 percent, meaning that 1 in 8 cases is a child,” said Aman in the PAPDI Webinar, Sunday (20/6/2021).

His party gave warnings for all activities involving children and toddlers to be held online. “IDAI urges all activities involving children aged 0 to 18 years to be held online for now,” said Aman.

He emphasized that during this alarming pandemic, parents have a very important role in maintaining and supervising children to comply with health protocols (prokes).

“Parents or caregivers accompany their children during online and offline activities, avoid taking children out of the house except in urgent circumstances, avoid areas with closed ventilation and overcrowding, following health protocols in a disciplined manner both indoors and outdoors, including their parents,” said Safe.

He added that parents must always take care of their children so that they are not exposed to various dangerous diseases

“When the parents don’t obey the protocol, they feel sorry for their child and the next one is to prevent various dangerous diseases,” said Aman.
