Cascone case, De Luca: «The judiciary must proceed autonomously»

«No comments, as always. In judicial matters, the judiciary must proceed in full autonomy. Quickly, but in full autonomy. Period, no comment». This is how the president of the Campania Region responds: Vincenzo De Lucato journalists who, on the sidelines of the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the University of Salernoask him for a comment on the investigation which involves, among others, the president of the Province of Salerno and mayor of Capaccio Paestum, Franco Alfieriand in the aftermath of the searches also against the regional councilor Luca Cascone.

«The judiciary – he adds – do their work in full autonomy, without looking anyone in the face. Possibly quickly and, as far as citizens, the political world, the world of information are concerned, let us try never to forget, but this is an appeal that will fall on deaf ears, that an article of the Constitution says that a citizen is innocent until to a final sentence. But this thing won’t enter anyone’s head».

«So – continues De Luca – we will continue to witness the massacre of people, of families who have children, of loved ones. We can be respectful of the autonomy of the judiciary and that of the judge is a difficult, complicated job. So we have faith, we respect this work and we await the results of this work. At the same time, we respect the people affected by legal matters by awaiting the conclusion of these matters. Is it so difficult to be civilized people?».
