Mexico City. The leader of the Morena deputies, Ricardo Monreal Ávila, described this Sunday as “judicial tricks” the cascade of legal appeals that have been presented to try to stop the reform of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (PJF). He affirmed that the constitutional amendment “was indispensable” in the face of the “burdens” that this sector of the Mexican State is carrying.
“On the occasion of the constitutional reform in judicial matters, it was to be noted, it was to be expected that there would be counter reactions, that there would be subterfuges and even that there would be judicial tricks that tried to stop what is already current law, the constitutional reform that is published in the Official Gazette of the Federation,” he said through a video broadcast on social networks.
Until last Saturday, the National Electoral Institute (INE) was notified of more than 160 suspensions against the reform issued by judges, to which are added 115 new notifications on the same files, including incidents and extensions of the cases.
There are also a dozen appeals, including constitutional controversies, unconstitutionality actions and other challenges, presented before the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, promoted by judges and magistrates, political parties and local governments.
The Zacatecan legislator called for confidence that the Legislative Branch will install an Evaluation Committee that will choose the best evaluated to be candidates for judge, magistrate and minister of the Court. Said committee must be installed no later than October 31.
“Be confident, it will be a high-level and highly prestigious evaluation committee, you will not be able to pass improvised or unconditional profiles of the powers or without capacity and talent,” he said.
The committees will rate the suitability of the eligible candidates and also the best, it is important to tell them that this reform was indispensable, the justice deficit was growing, the burdens that locked and imprisoned this power were evident, nepotism, corruption, influence peddling and in the dome full of privileges it did not generalize. There are judges and magistrates who are honest and they could participate to ratify their permanence in office as judges.
