CasaPound shakes hands with Hofer

On the anniversary of Andreas Hofer’s death, the groups campaign for the “Rockaforte” in Bozen and the “Bulwark” in Trient with Hofer posters for a blood and soil ideology and at the same time, in a self-declared “punk style”, are fighting against the restrictions of the Corona policy. Both groups are part of the neo-fascist CasaPound movement.

It seems a farce that the Tyrolean freedom fighter Andreas Hofer should advertise the blood and soil ideology of the neo-fascist CasaPound sympathizers in punk style; is paradoxically true according to the blog “La Vedetta d’Italia”: On the anniversary of Andreas Hofer’s death on Sunday, the supporters of both clubs put up posters in which the Tyrolean freedom fighter, who led the rebellion against the Bavarian-French troops in 1809, as Punk is portrayed and advertises “Fatherland, War and Soil”. The fatherland that is invoked is not Hofer’s homeland, but a glorified image in the fascist tradition.

Den Hintergrund der Aktion scheinen die durch die Corona-Pandemie bedingten Einschränkungen zu bilden, gegen die sich die Anhänger der neo-faschistischen Gruppierungen stemmen: “What would a caged eagle do? Stellungnahme zu den Manifesten. “Freedom! This is the word that is most heard shouted by every free man against the permanent state of emergency and the stateless health and financial power, which wants the dignity of work and Tradition in Europe to be destroyed.”

With the action one wants to “honor the courageous leader of this border region on the anniversary of his death” and thus “shake hands with the South Tyrolean brothers for the shared history and a common salvation”.
