With the Cannes Film Festival being the third most publicized event in the world – just behind the Olympic Games and the FIFA World Cup – interviewing a filmmaker competing for the coveted Palme d’Or is a task timed to the second! It was on the “journalists’ terrace” that we found Nabil Ayouch and Anas Basbousi, respectively director and main actor of the film “Haut et fort”, screened Thursday evening July 15 in the official competition.

Lth feature film High and loud by Nabil Ayouch being only the second Moroccan film to compete for the Palme d’Or in the history of the Cannes Film Festival and the first in fiction (the last was the documentary Souls and rhythms by Abdelaziz Ramdani in 1962), it is a truly historic edition of the Cannes festival for Morocco, and of course especially for the film crew. Awarded in the “Un certain regard” selection for Horses of god in 2012 and selected for the “Directors’ Fortnight” for Much Loved in 2015, Nabil Ayouch is not his first attempt in the city-cinema….
