Open to architects under 45 years old, this competition, organized by the Archimedia Group, aims to distinguish the most innovative and striking projects, thus testifying to the dynamism and creativity of the new generation of architects in the Kingdom.
The nominated projects cover a wide range of categories: the Zévaco special prize, health and well-being, education, individual residential real estate, retail and commercial architecture, leisure and tourism, interior design and decoration, renovation and rehabilitation, individual house, office building, collective housing, first work, architect designer of the year, out of category, best male PFE and best female PFE.
In a statement to the press, on the sidelines of the ceremony announcing the nominated projects, Fatim Zahra Akalay, co-founder of the YMAA and general director of the Archimedia Group, underlined the ambition of the competition: “Our objective has always been to propel Moroccan architecture onto the national and international scene.” It highlighted the rapid development of contemporary Moroccan architecture, driven by major projects underway across the country.
For his part, Mohamed Fikri Benabdallah, president of the YMAA 2024 jury, revealed the selection criteria for the nominated projects, emphasizing creativity, originality and the ability to surprise.
He also paid a vibrant tribute to the late Fouad Akalay, founder of the YMAA, whose “commitment to Moroccan architecture left an indelible mark”.
This second edition generated remarkable enthusiasm with nearly 200 registrations. The highlight of the event will be the awards ceremony, scheduled for December during a gala evening. In addition to the winners by category, three prestigious distinctions will be awarded: the “Building of the Year”, the “Public Favorite” (determined by an online vote), and the “Fouad Akalay Prize”, in tribute to the founder of the YMAAs.
