For the CRT-Casa-Settat, rural tourism in this region of Casablanca Settat represents a booming sector with immense development potential. However, it faces specific challenges linked to visibility, accessibility and sustainability: “The “Rural Tourism Challenge” which is being held next April, in partnership with the ONMT, the Council of the Casablanca-Settat region, the Ministry of Tourism, the region’s tourism delegation and the Wilaya of the region, aims to develop innovative solutions for rural tourism in our region, by highlighting the cultural, historical and natural riches of our territories. The “Rural Tourism Challenge” also takes into consideration the difficulties and threats faced by operators in the tourism value chain, active in the hinterland of the Casablanca-Settat region, the organization whose objective is to find answers to the problems encountered in rural areas.
To do this, the CRTCS, in collaboration with the ONMT and the Regional Council, invited public and private higher education schools and universities in the region to participate in this challenge. The challenge is to create a real impact on tourism development in rural areas through concrete actions implemented by the Council and its partners. Moreover, the organization of this event was done in close collaboration with training institutions specializing in tourism as well as partners from the private and public sector.
The proposed themes are innovation in rural accommodation models, improvement of catering in rural establishments using local and regional products while minimizing the impact on the environment, creation of captivating experiences hikes and excursions, the implementation of technical and technological solutions to optimize water and electricity consumption in existing rural establishments and finally use cases for artificial intelligence aimed at improving the operational experience tourism stakeholders and customers in rural areas.
