Casa América presents a study on the rights of rural women in Latin America

This Monday, June 20, in the spaces of the Casa de América, the presentation of the study will take place ‘The protection of the rights of rural women in Latin America. Current status of existing legislation and policies in the context of the post-pandemic Covid-19’.

This study is supported by the Spanish Cooperation, within the framework of the INTERCOONECTA Program, and the project ‘Support for the Hunger-Free Latin America and the Caribbean Initiative 2025’ of the Spain-FAO alliance.

This meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the spaces of La Casa América, although all those interested in the subject will also be able to follow it openly via streaming.

The presentation of the study will be moderated by Elena Diego Castellanos, senator and President of the Commission for International Development Cooperation of the Senate. She is also a promoter of the Spanish Parliamentary Alliance for the Right to Food.

Study Background

Due to the crisis caused by COVID-19 and the conflict in Ukraine, Latin America suffers a strong differentiated and negative impact on food and nutritional security. It mainly affects rural indigenous and Afro-descendant women. This threatens to go back decades in the fight against hunger.
