Carter assures that Interior Minister will visit Florida after attack on PDI personnel | National

He Florida Mayor Rodolfo Carter, met with the interior minister, Víctor Pérez, after the armed attack that left two PDI officials injured in a procedure in the Los Quillayes population.

In his departure from La Moneda, the communal chief assured that the minister will visit the commune this week, to get to know on the ground the feeling of insecurity in which the neighbors live.

“What happened yesterday in Florida is the end of the rule of law in Santiago,” he said.

“The Government and the State of Chile, and all the governments, have failed in a fundamental duty that is directly related to the right of citizens to live in peace“He added.

The attack on the PDI

The situation occurred last night in General Arriagada with Santa Raquel, when the police were conducting proceedings for a blow that occurred yesterday afternoon in the commune.

As the three officials searched for a stolen high-end car, they encountered individuals who, seeing the police presence, fired automatic weapons.

Dozens of shots were fired at the vehicle where the IDPs were traveling, injuring a police assistant and a deputy inspector. The third officer was shot in the chest, but his bulletproof vest saved him.

The wounded were transferred to the Carabineros Hospital, where they recovered outside of life-threatening conditions.

Inspector Prefect Iván Villanueva, chief of the Metropolitan police region, indicated that the attack took place from three different points and that in total more than 100 shots were fired.
