[CARTE] Deconfinement: what is the 100 km zone around Marseille, Nice, Toulon, Digne, Gap or Avignon?

Prime Minister Edouard Philippe announced it before the deputies, Tuesday April 28: after May 11, “it will again be possible to move freely, without certificate, except for trips more than 100 kilometers from home, which will only be possible for a compelling, family or professional reason “.

The aim is to limit interregional movement and prevent the spread of the virus.

The map above shows the radius of 100 kilometers around the main cities of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region. For the time being, the government has not specified whether the radius of 100 km would be calculated as the crow flies, from one city to another, from the home or not or where if the distance would be calculated for example by depending on the journey by car or train.

Note also that the deconfinement in the maritime areas will be done in stages, according to the procedures specified by clicking on this link. Beaches will not be open to the public until June 1 “at least”, announced Prime Minister Edouard Philippe. Some PACA cities are getting impatient, others still wonder how they could handle the influx of tourists.

For cities close to Italy, the travel perimeter is reduced by the closure of the border. According to information from BFMTV, Emmanuel Macron raised the possibility of closing the borders of the Schengen area at least until September.

How to calculate the radius of 100 km around your home?

After the announcement of Edouard Philippe, Géoportail website, set up by the government, was quickly saturated.

Another website allows you to calculate the distance of 1km (for short outings until May 11) or 100 km around your home.

A third site allows you to customize the size of the department you want to calculate around your home.

Once on the site, you must fill in the “location name” field, in other words the name of your city or the address of your home. Then determine the radius of 100 kilometers, in the radius distance box. Then click on “Draw radius”.
