Aurore Gruel, director since 2021 of the Laboratoire chorégraphique de Reims, is offering the Dansité festival for the first time, an evening, imagined with the Manège, to give carte blanche to two young figures of contemporary dance. For this inaugural edition, Sarah Cerneaux and Marino Vanna are invited to present their new creations.
For Sarah Cerneaux, it’s about presenting “Either Way – In one way or another”, a composite and cosmopolitan solo, inspired by her Reunion and Comorian origins. Rich in a journey dedicated to the body, the choreographer reflects on the memory that we carry in our bodily materiality and in our physical transformations. This solo is therefore articulated in different modules, different tables, both connected and independent, in lively energies, ranging from exuberance to despondency, always echoing a desperate search for freedom.
Marino Vanna, artist in companionship at the Manège, offers “Man’s Madness”, which he presents the first during the festival. Steeped in multiple influences, from hip-hop to classical, the choreographer has composed a piece for four performers that questions human madness and above all the obsession, almost existential, since the dawn of time, to create and destroy. Create to destroy, then rebuild? Its composition is committed, mixed, subtle and solid, faithful to the multiple contradictions of Man. The meeting is therefore given at the Manège, Saturday May 21 from 6 p.m. for two new performances linked to each other by the fervor of choreographic audacity.
