The Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz will have his injured foot straightened through an operation and thus be out between 5 and 12 weeks, as head coach Frank Reich announced on Monday.
“Of course we are optimistic and hope that we are at the front of this time span,” said Reich.
Wentz’s foot injury worsened towards the end of practice on Thursday. The Colts sent him to see foot specialist Robert Anderson before deciding he needed surgery.
Reich said doctors believe Wentz’s pain came from an ancient injury that could date back to high school.
