Der Indianapolis Colts Quarterback Carson Wentz will start against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday after recovering from a preseason foot operation. The team announced on Friday.

Cornerback Xavier Rhodes and linebackers Kemoko Turay dropped out due to injuries, as did offensive tackle Eric Fisherrecovering from an Achilles tendon tear.

Wentz will make his debut for the Colts after missing all three preseason games. He returned to training three weeks before the season opened, but Indianapolis said they wouldn’t be rushed to get him back.

The 28-year-old will be on the field trying to recover from a nightmarish 2020 season. Wentz led the NFL in interceptions and ranked 34th in the passer rating before the Philadelphia Eagles took him for Jalen Hurts sit on the bench.

Indianapolis acquired Wentz in an offseason trade after Philip Rivers retired after a season of 11 wins. The Colts have been looking for the surprising resignation of Andrew Luck during the preseason 2019 for a long-term solution on the position of quarterback.

Wentz was an MVP candidate in 2017, but a cruciate ligament rupture at the end of the season forced him to the sideline and so he missed the Eagles’ Super Bowl success. The quarterback struggled with injuries throughout his time in Philadelphia.
