Carson Palmer calls Joe Burrow the Best Quarterback in the League Ahead of Potential Contract Extension

“I think Joe Burrow is the best quarterback in the league. I know Patrick Mahomes is phenomenal, but Burrow is more consistent. He’s more reliable (…) and has no weaknesses,” praised Carson Palmer, the former quarterback of the Cincinnati Bengals, Las Vegas Raiders and Arizona Cardinals, during an appearance on The QB Room podcast Bengals star Joe Burrow.

And further in the song of praise: “He is mentally and physically strong, throws accurately over all distances, gets rid of the ball quickly and can gain space on foot.”

The 43-year-old was the first pick in the 2003 NFL Draft and has won three Pro Bowler honors in his career. “There’s nothing that upsets him,” Palmer said of Burrow.

Burrow has accumulated 11,774 passing yards, 82 touchdowns and 31 interceptions in his NFL career so far. Last season, he and the Bengals lost 20-23 to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the Conference Championships. The year before, the trip only ended in the Super Bowl against the Los Angeles Rams – also after a 20:23.

Joe Burrow before contract extension

Burrow could sign a new contract this offseason. He is currently tied to the Bengals for two more years, including the fifth-year option. According to rumours, however, an extension is to be sought as early as this year.

Experts estimate that the new contract will bring him around 50 million US dollars a year. By the way: A few months ago, the Bengals sold the naming rights to their own stadium for the first time – perhaps in order to be able to finance some contracts.
