Xavier Martinet, director of marketing, sales & operations Dacia: In 2023 these price increases will depend on the macroeconomic context.
♦ Dacia reached a sales level of 573,800 units in 2022, 6.8% more than the level recorded in 2021.
The mandatory Euro 7 standards, the new safety enhancement systems required to obtain the maximum score of 5 stars in the EuroNCAP tests, will lead to an accelerated increase in prices after 2025, but Dacia will come with new models that will approach the current values, explains Xavier Martinet, director of marketing, sales & operations at Dacia.
“The goal is to grow in Europe in the compact class. If now a compact SUV can be bought for 25-30,000 euros, after Euro 7 it can be bought for 30,000-40,000 euros and that is why we have high expectations from the Bigster from 2025. The future Duster will come in 2024. We went to class A with Spring, and further on we will come with two new compact models, but we are not giving more details now”, said Xavier Martinet during an international conference. For 2023 Xavier Martinet expects the market to grow further, but it is difficult to make estimates.
At group level, complementarity will be strengthened. “Dacia couldn’t get here if it was a stand-alone brand.” With Dacia, we don’t rely on 5 stars at EuroNCAP, but we offer safety in the event of an accident, not systems for stars that most drivers deactivate anyway when they get behind the wheel”, explained the director.
The average price of a Dacia car sold in Europe increased in the last year by 10%, to 14,000 euros without VAT. It increased because they entered the Spring or Jogger range, which have prices above the Sandero.
“In 2022, car prices have increased. They also increased at Dacia due to the increase in the price of raw materials, energy or transport. In 2023, these price increases will also depend on the macroeconomic context, but we expect the price increases to slow down compared to those in 2022”, said Xavier Martinet.
