Cars over 1,400 cc with black plates are reportedly banned from using Pertalite fuel again. Decisions regarding vehicles that can still drink Pertalite will reportedly be included in the revision of Presidential Regulation number 191 of 2014 concerning the Provision, Distribution and Retail Selling Prices of Oil Fuel (BBM).
Cars in the Low Cost Green Car (LCGC) segment seem to be one of the models that are still safe to drink Pertalite. Yes, the government is planning to limit Pertalite consumption by setting criteria for vehicle users.
Member of the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH) Migas Abdul Halim recently revealed that all types of motorbikes under 150 cc are still allowed to consume Pertalite. As for cars, black plate vehicles over 1,400 cc will be prohibited from buying Pertalite.
“All black plate cars are prohibited or 1,400 cc cars,” Abdul was quoted as saying by detikFinance.
With these requirements without any further changes, indirectly only cars under 1,400 cc may later consume Pertalite. For the model, mostly inhabited by LCGC cars. As we all know, all cars belonging to the LCGC segment, such as Daihatsu Ayla, Toyota Agya and Honda Brio Satya, have a maximum engine capacity of 1,300 cc.
Outside of the LCGC, there are compact cars under 1,400 cc that are equipped with turbo engines such as Daihatsu Rocky, Toyota Raize, Honda Brio RS, Kia Seltos, Nissan Magnite, Nissan Kicks e-Power Suzuki Ignis, VW Polo, and VW. T-Cross.
Not to forget, there are also cars belonging to the premium class, such as the Audi Q3, which are known to have engines under 1,400 cc. Apart from the Audi brand, there is also a German manufacturer, Mercedes Benz. There are four Mercedes-Benz car models under 1,400 cc or 1,332 cc to be precise, including the A 200 Sedan Progressive Line, CLA 200 AMG, GLA 200 AMG Line and GLB 200 Progressive Line.
It is not yet clear how the policy will be implemented, whether it only refers to engine capacity or price will also be taken into consideration.
