CelebritiesCarrie Fisher was posthumously honored with a star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, May 4, Star Wars Day. The star was unveiled by her daughter Billie Lourd (30). And while some old acquaintances from the franchise – including robots R2-D2 and C-3PO – were invited to attend this ceremony, the actress’ brother and sisters were not. “They took advantage of my mother’s death.”
Yesterday was a special day for the ‘Star Wars’ fans. On May 4, they celebrate their beloved franchise with the slogan ‘May the fourth be with you’, a pun on the iconic one-liner from the movies ‘May the force be with you’. And not entirely coincidentally, the late Carrie ‘Princess Leia’ Fisher was honored with her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on this very day. Daughter Billie Lourd unveiled the tile at the ceremony and wore a dress with Princess Leia on it for the occasion. She was assisted by some ‘old acquaintances’ from the ‘Star Wars’ world, including robots C-3PO and R2-D2 and Mark Hamill, who played the character of Luke Skywalker, was also present.

Brothers and sisters not invited
However, those who did not attend were Fisher’s siblings, Todd, Joely and Tricia. “The truth is I did not invite them to this ceremony,” Billie Lourd said in a statement. “Days after my mother died, they chose to process their grief publicly and capitalize on her death. This by, among other things, conducting several interviews and selling individual books for a lot of money, with my mother and grandmother as the subject,” it sounds. “I found out through the press. They never consulted me about this. Although I acknowledge that they have every right to do whatever they want, their actions were very hurtful to me during the most difficult time of my life.”

Emotional speech
Billie Lourd gave a very emotional candid speech at the ceremony. She said that she suddenly understood the fascination for her mother as soon as she saw the films herself. “I wanted to hate it. Like any child, I didn’t want my mom to be “hot” or cool. She was my mother. But then staring at the screen, I realized that no one would be as hot or cool as Princess Leia.” She continued: “Leia is more than a character. She is a feeling, a strength, grace and wit. She is femininity at its best. She knows what she wants and gets it. No one could have played her like my mother.” She continued: “My mother passed away six and a half years ago and ever since then I have fallen deeply in love with Leia and the entire ‘Star Wars’ universe. I buy every piece of Leia merchandise I can find.”
She then spoke of her two children, daughter Jackson and son Kingston: “I passed the torch – or rather the lightsaber – to them. I am so lucky that even though they will never meet my mother, they will get to know a part of her through Leia. Leia has become like a family heirloom and not just for our family. Leia did not die with my mother.” Finally, she said: “Playing the princess would be more than enough. But to me, my mom is more than ‘just’ Princess Leia, she’s Carrie Fisher.”
