Carrie Fisher despaired at a “Star Wars” scene for a strange reason

Hardly anyone could have played Princess Leia better than Carrie Fisher. But the “Star Wars” actress struggled with one particular scene.

“Star Wars” is one of the biggest media franchises in the world today. But of course, it wasn’t always like that. It all started with the 1977 film “Star Wars: A New Hope” by George Lucas. The Jedi Knights and rebels immediately captured the hearts of the audience. One of the biggest fan favorites to this day is Princess Leia, played by the now deceased Carrie Fisher.

Carrie Fisher had to suppress her personality for “Star Wars”

Carrie Fisher delivered an impressive performance as Princess Leia Organa in the original Star Wars trilogy. Despite the usual challenges that arise during filming and other unfortunate circumstances that sometimes made her job difficult, Fisher managed to make her portrayal of Leia something very special to accomplish.

This may be due in large part to the Princess’s wit. However, Fisher seems to have brought perhaps too much of her sarcastic and witty self to the role, which led to a particular line in “Star Wars: A New Hope” great difficulties Fisher’s acting colleague Peter Cushing does not seem to have been entirely innocent in this regard.

This line caused Carrie Fisher difficulties

In 1977, when Star Wars: A New Hope first hit theaters, Carrie Fisher spoke about what it was like to play alongside Peter Cushing, who was already a legend in Hollywood at the time. She revealed that George Lucas told her to tone down her sarcasm towards Cushing’s character, Grand Moff Tarkin, and instead show real angerIt was the first time that Lucas had ever criticized her.

Fisher, however, had difficulty with this. The actress stated that she “liked Peter Cushing so much that I had to imagine someone else to feel the hatred for him.” She jokingly explained that when describing Tarkin’s “disgusting stench,” she could only smell Cushing’s “linen and lavender” (via Star Wars Culture).
