Carrera pays posthumous tribute to 9/11 first responders

A foot race in New York City pays tribute to the first responders who died after the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001, and who continue to lose their lives due to illnesses related to that tragic event.

The annual traditional “Tunnel to Towers 5K” run and walk started at 9:30 a.m. in Brooklyn. Participants then passed through the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel to finish the competition in Lower Manhattan, home of the World Trade Center monument.

The tour followed the last steps of firefighter Stephen Siller, the first 9/11 responder to die in the line of duty.

According to the organizers, about 40 thousand people participated in the event.
