As reported, the first semifinals of the 64th International Eurovision Song Contest took place on Tuesday evening, in which 10 countries, including Estonia, were selected for the finals of the competition, and the nominations for the finals of seven countries were rejected.
Australia, Belarus, the Czech Republic, Greece, Estonia, Iceland, Cyprus, San Marino, Serbia and Slovenia made it to the finals. Estonia is represented at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest by Swedish singer Viktors Krons with the song “Storm”.
Belgium, Georgia, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Finland and Hungary were screened in the first semi-finals.
The final of the competition will take place on Saturday, May 18. It will be attended by the 20 countries selected in both semi-finals, as well as Israel, the organizer of this year’s competition, and the so-called “Big Five” of Eurovision – Great Britain, France, Italy, Spain and Germany.
Last year, Israeli singer Neta Barzilaja won the competition, but this year the country will be represented by 27-year-old singer Kobi Marimi.
Israel has won the competition four times in total, but has twice given up the right to host Eurovision due to financial problems.
