Singer and songwriter Sabīne Žuga has announced herself with the stage name as Muuna and started a new solo project, releasing the debut single “Dark Valley”.
Muuna, real name Sabīne Žuga, became known to a wider audience as a soloist of the group “Carousel”, representing Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2019.
Muuna’s new single is a bit reminiscent of the dreamy mood of the carousel with Sabine’s beautiful, velvety voice in trump, but stylistically closer to indipop.
“Dark Valley” is like a retrospective reflection on the destructive aspects of personality that are inevitably part of human nature. The interaction between the inner and outer worlds can be harsh, ruthless and challenging, but also transformative. The ray of light, which tries to break even in the darkest corners, gives the belief that light will always come after dark, ”explains Muuna in her debut single.
The single was recorded and post-produced in collaboration with producer and sound director Gati Zaķi, while the song was finalized by Minerva Pappi from Waudio Mastering in Finland. Guitarist Mārcis Vasilevskis and drummer Rūdolfs Dankfelds also participated in the creation of the recording.
