Defenseman Tony DeAngelo has signed with the Carolina Hurricanes.
The team confirmed the news in the evening. It is a one-year contract worth $1.675 million.
“Tony is an elite defender offensively and he had a good season with us at the end of the 2021-2022 campaign. We wanted to sign him last summer and we’re happy to bring him back to Raleigh,” said team general manager Don Waddell.
Journalist Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff was the first to break the news in the early afternoon.
Last year with the Philadelphia Flyers, DeAngelo had eleven goals and 31 assists in 70 games.
The 27-year-old has already worn the colors of the Canes. He also played for the Arizona Coyotes and New York Rangers. In 340 career games, he scored 45 goals and had 154 assists.
