Carolina Basualdo participated in a conference in Canada on climate change

The mayor once again represented both Despeñaderos and Latin America at the “Innovate 4 Cities” conference held in Montreal. At the meeting, topics related to climate change and local actions were discussed.

After participating in different events in Brazil and Paris, on this occasion Mayor Carolina Basualdo was present last week in Montreal, Canada representing Latin America at the “Innovate 4 Cities” conference on climate change.

The president was accompanied by governments and academic leaders from different parts of the world. All of them addressed issues related to the gap between cities’ climate action and tangible actionwith the aim of obtaining financing for cities.

Carolina Basualdo participated in various meetings in which she emphasized the learning obtained from all the localities that make up the Pact. “We also have the unique opportunity for technology, business, artificial intelligence and academia to come together to show us the real possibilities of applying this technology to mitigation, adaptation and climate action.”

“This means being able to include not only the major adaptation and fair transition actions, but also having a look at inclusion and disability specifically in climate action. Together with Valérie Plante, Mayor of Montereal and Hélinah Cardoso Moreira, Regional Coordinator of the Covenant of Mayors, and other mayors from Latin America, they worked together to seek funding and raise awareness of the inequality faced by women and children due to climate change.
