The president of the Occitanie region Carole Delga responded to the words of the mayor of Bordeaux Pierre Hurmic. The latter clearly opposed the “insane project” to build the high-speed line (LGV) between Bordeaux and Toulouse.
It’s a pass of arms. The president of the Occitania region Carole Delga (PS) responded to the mayor of Bordeaux Pierre Hurmic (EELV) on Friday, October 29 at the end of the afternoon. The latter was clearly involved in the construction of the High Speed Line (LGV) between Bordeaux and Toulouse.
“I speak on behalf of the 60% of French women and men who are today more than 4 hours by train from Paris,” writes Carole Delga in a press release sent to the media. “I therefore stand up against petty egoisms because it is easy to talk when one is 2 hours from Paris, and to explain to millions of French people that they do not need to be connected to others and close to the capital. This selfishness is all the more irresponsible because with the other communities in Occitania, we have funded the TGV Tours-Bordeaux line to the tune of € 300 million! ”
“I am also speaking out against these fallacious shortcuts which consist in saying that it would be enough to do work on the existing line. It is completely inconsistent with the desire to develop daily trains because today the Montauban-Toulouse line is completely saturated and we cannot even add an additional train ”, says the president of the Occitanie region. “In 3 years, it will be the same until Agen. We need a LGV to be connected to Paris and internationally, but we also need a LGV to develop daily trains and the RER north of Toulouse. ”
As a reminder, during a press conference given Thursday, October 28, Pierre Hurmic considered that the construction of the LGV between Bordeaux and Toulouse is a “crazy project”. He believes that “alternative solutions to the LGV” are possible. And according to him, promoting the renovation of TER lines would be much more useful for everyday travelers.
