Carole Delga in support of Valérie Rabault in Montauban: “We have this ethic of being loyal and free”

the essential
The President of the Region was this Thursday in Montauban to support Valérie Rabault, outgoing PS deputy who is seeking a new mandate in the 1st constituency. The two women, who say they inspire each other, have made things clear when it comes to Nupes.

The arrival of Carole Delga, President of the Region, was a highlight of Valérie Rabault’s campaign this Thursday in Montauban. The one who chaired, in the previous legislature, the group of PS and related deputies in the National Assembly is seeking a third term in the 1st constituency of Tarn-et-Garonne. A constituency which, let us remember, had been reserved for the PS within the framework of the agreements, signed in Paris with the NUPES (New popular ecological and social union).

But it is clear that Valérie Rabault embodies another left than that of Jean-Luc Mélenchon. She expressed it at the Fort residence in Montauban where she had invited Carole Delga to a round table, in the presence of elected officials and association leaders, on the theme “What new solidarities?” before the two women, who say they “inspire each other”, go to visit, in the Albasud area, the Bargues laundry, a booming family SME which has received aid from the Region for its compliance with the measures environmental aspects of the Green Deal.

For 1h30, in the shade of the lime trees of the Fort residence, Carole Delga participated in a round table on “new solidarity” alongside Valérie Rabault and Morgan Tellier.
DDM – DDM MANUEL MASSIP

Anticipating questions from the press about her political position, Valérie Rabault claimed to be “loyal and free”. “I believe in a progressive left which is capable of delivering, of ensuring that everyone has a chance. I am loyal to the values of a European left, very clear about the Republic and which fights against all forms of communitarianism”. And the candidate, evoking, without ever quoting them, her divorce with the Insoumis: “What I do not like is that a political force wants to cover all the others. I answer them that I am free “.

There will be no NUPES group in the National Assembly, that does not exist.

And Carole Delga continues: “With Valérie, we have this ethic, this line of conduct of being loyal and free. We represent a deeply European and humanist left for progress shared by all”. La Commingeoise sends its arrows to those who concocted the NUPES: “Whole sections of people’s lives are not covered in this agreement. I am talking about energy, the European question but also support for the Ukrainian people which is living its 100th day of war today, and 100 days of living under the bombs is a very long time. There is also the question of the burkini and for us, it is not a detail.” Carole Delga sees in the NUPES agreement “a magma of confused or contradictory measures”.

Already projecting herself the day after the second round of the legislative elections, the patron saint of the Region assures her: “There will be no NUPES political group in the National Assembly, that does not exist. An intergroup is envisaged, but that has nothing to do with it. It is the elected deputies who will constitute the groups and no one else.”

752 visits to municipalities since 2017

If the voters of the 1st district trust him once again, Valérie Rabault announces it, without surprise: “I will sit in the PS and related group”. Loyal and free. With Morgan Tellier, the mayor of Nègrepelisse whom she chose as her deputy, the candidate has almost finished, ten days before the first round, her visit to the 63 municipalities of the constituency. “We are the only candidates to have done so. This field presence is essential because it seems extremely important to us that a policy is never disconnected. Since 2017, and despite the 18 months of confinement and semi-confinement, I I made 752 visits to municipalities. On the basis of these meetings, we built a program which always aims to have a concrete realization in the Tarn-et-Garonne”.

And Carole Delga, admiringly, to launch: “It is a strength to have in Tarn-et-Garonne a deputy like Valérie Rabault. She has great technical expertise but who is always at the service of realities.” A minute earlier, the candidate had returned the compliment: “Carole Delga has the incredible strength to translate into actions and concrete policies the values that we carry. That is not given to everyone”.
