Carola Häggkvist (55) spreads the Christmas spirit on tour, but admits there have been some heartbreaking holidays over the years.
– My Christmases haven’t always been rosy, adds the Swedish artist The Espresso.
Carola explains that both her divorce and the fact that both her parents died shaped the celebration.
– There was a broken love and a child every other Christmas. How funny is that? Besides, people think everything is glamorous, she says.
Carola was married Norwegian Runar Søgaard (55) from 1990 to 2000. They have the son Amedeo (24) together.
I 2012 adopted Carola’s daughter Zoe (now 13) from South Africa. Carola tells the paper that she has almost become her salvation.
– It’s both beautiful and a little sad, says the singer.
Carola clarifies that today she feels “rich inside”, so much for her Christian faith. She also praises her many, good friends of hers and she assures that she is optimistic.
– Even if a lot of things suck.
To separate
Carola doesn’t currently have a boyfriend, but admits it The Espresso that she has “someone” waiting for her. And she likes it.
She reveals that she has been in contact with some “nice” people, but that she spends so much time at work and on her daughter that she hasn’t been able to establish anything permanent.
Carola likes being two, but finds it easier to be single, even if it’s not always desirable. Plus, she’s picky. She doesn’t give her phone number easily, she says.
– I met someone in my life, with whom I had fun. But then, for various reasons, it didn’t last long. But then I can’t just go for the next thing. It might sound bad, but I can’t.
These days, Carola is on the road with fellow artist Måns Zelmerlöw (36) and the ‘A Grand X-mas’ tour. They even released a Christmas song together – “Let’s Sing”.
