Carola Miró i Bedós, the wife of former president of the Generalitat Quim Torra, died this Saturday at the age of 58 in Girona after fighting cancer for almost a decade. Miró was born in Barcelona in 1965, dedicated his life to teaching at the city’s Thau primary school and was part of the Reagrupament lists for the province of Barcelona in the 2010 Parliamentary elections, in position 77. In recent years years she had settled, with her husband, in Santa Coloma de Farners (Girona), the town of Quim Torra’s family.
The former Catalan president has published a statement highlighting his gratitude to the medical staff who treated his wife during the years of illness. Carola Miró died at the Santa Caterina Hospital in Girona, accompanied by her husband and her three children, Carola, Guillem and Helena.
“My condolences to President Quim Torra for the death of his wife Carola Miró. A very strong hug to the whole family in these difficult times. May she rest in peace”, said Pere Aragonès on the social network “More than ever, at the side of President Quim Torra and his family in these sad hours.”
For his part, the president of ERC Oriol Junqueras has also expressed his “sincere condolences” to Torra, his family and friends “in these moments of suffering.” The president of the Parliament, Anna Erra, and the secretary general of JxCat, Jordi Turull, have encouraged Torra on the death of Miró, “a close, firm and very committed person to the people and the country,” according to Turull. .
