The artistic expression declared in September 2000 Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), delighted locals and visitors at the Sucre Theater and in the Ciudad Mitad del World.
A representation of dozens of artists were part of the performances that showed in this Andean country part of that traditional festival in the Department of Nariño, one of the most representative of the neighboring nation.

“Enjoying this wonderful tradition motivates us to be part of the cultural dialogue that is so necessary in these times, as it allows us to find a common language in the midst of diversity,” he asserted.
The staging included the Indoamerican Cultural Foundation, the dancing devil, the comparsa Los Guerreros del Tiempo, the Murga La Colonia Sureña, the carnival idyll costume and the Pasto Carnival Queen 2022.
The show showed the fusion of the Andean, the ancestral, the Spanish and the African in a mixture of rhythms, rituals and dances that drew applause from the beginning to the end of the presentation.
The music infected the public, who remained standing longer between applause and dance, while photos and videos with the artists, who brought those present to the stage, were not lacking.
Officials from various ministries of state, from the Prefecture of Pichincha, diplomatic personnel accredited in Ecuador and citizens in general, joined in the two performances that the Colombian artists gave.
The Carnival of Blacks and Whites was born in the 16th century, in the year 1546, and has its origin in the fusion of multiple cultures and expressions, corresponding to the Spanish influence, from the Andes, the Amazon and the traditions of the Pacific region. Colombian.
