The journey started according to 1Limburg at 7 p.m. at Boscafé Het Maasdal, where the victim worked. Friends and loved ones of the deceased boy walked from there to Lambertusplein in the center of Horst. Along the way, the procession also stopped at the Wittenhorst football club, where the victim played in the eleventh team. Torches were lit at the sports park.
Beforehand, Mayor Ryan Palmen gave a short speech, in which he emphasized Horst’s strong society.
Suspect is in custody
The boy was stabbed on Lambertusplein. Witnesses say the victim tried to calm an argument around 7:35 p.m. After the stabbing, paramedics tried to resuscitate him, but to no avail. A little later, all carnival festivities in the Limburg village were stopped. Eyewitnesses were received that evening in the town hall. According to the police, they are being offered professional help.
A 19-year-old suspect from Tienray was arrested. He is still in custody and will be arraigned tomorrow.
